The Girl

The small girl wept on a bench in the park as the cold made her whole body shake from the chill of the wind. She stopped to see a snowflake falling on her body making it even colder for her to be there. She’d see couples, and children with parents staring and glaring or sometimes ignoring her while she pleaded for shelter or money to help her survive this cold winter. She’d imagine a warm sunny day with a mother and a father taking each hand walking through the park. They’d be laughing at a joke her father told or about her mother’s day at work. And after the walk they would take her out for Ice Cream. She thought about this as she fell asleep on the bench for another night alone.
